Ray Hawkins, Ph.D., ABPP

Since 2004, Ray has been with New Life Institute and has been a professor in the Ph.D. Clinical Psychology Program (APA accredited) at Fielding Graduate University. In addition, he is a clinical assistant professor in the University of Texas Austin Psychology Department and is past Director of the UT Clinical Psychology Training Clinic. Dr. Hawkins has also served as adjunct professor in the Center for Christian Ministry and Vocation at the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest.

As a core faculty member at Fielding, Dr. Hawkins teaches cognitive behavioral treatment (Introduction, Case Formulation, and Integration--Report Writing), and is the Director of the Fielding Training Clinic and a member of the Board of Trustees at New Life Institute. He supervises students in clinical practicum. Dr. Hawkins is a founding member and currently the Board Chair of the Lone Star Psychology Residency Consortium, which provides clinical psychology internships across Texas to underserved populations.

Dr. Hawkins' most recent scholarly work has centered on evaluating CBT treatment outcomes, particularly using personality dimensions as moderators; addictive behaviors (especially eating disorders); “chaos” and complexity theory; and family of origin variables. He has published numerous articles and co-edited two books (including The Binge Purge Syndrome). He has also presented papers on brief Jungian psychotherapy using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
